FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
 

1. Is there a Nurse on site?
The health safety of your child at our camp is our primary concern. There is a nurse on site 24 hours a day and a doctor on call. Many of our staff are CPR and First Aid Certified and our swimming program meets or exceeds national standards.
2. Are you accredited by any group?
Camp Cherith is accredited by the Ontario Camping Association and is regularly evaluated by this association to ensure we meet or exceed their strict guidelines. We are also members of Christian Camping International and the Association of Cherith Camps. These groups also provide on going education and training.
3. Where do you get your staff?
Many of our staff are graduates of our CILT program. This is a 2 year, 6 week intensive leadership training course. At Camp Cherith each staff member receives specific on-site training that covers safety and emergency procedures, counseling techniques, teaching methods and camping skills. In addition, any staff member who manage such activities as swimming, boating, etc. have met all certification requirements. All staff are required to provide references and be willing to produce a background check if requested.
4. What is the staff to camper ratio?
Small cabin (family) groups allow for lots of individualized attention. Qualified and trained professionals supervise each area in camp. All staff are there to ensure your child has a wonderful and positive camping experience. The ratio is almost 2 to 1.
5. What are our philosophy and goals?
At Camp Cherith we focus on helping campers put Christ in every aspect of their lives. There is an intentional integration of faith and activity in a non competitive atmosphere. Campers grow and learn about themselves, learn to appreciate God's creation, are challenged to develop new skills and develop life-long friendships.
6. What activities are offered?
Both skill based and recreational activities are offered. These include but are not limited to; swimming, archery, mountain biking, riding lessons, fishing, tetherball, sports, hiking, crafts, music and drama, speed-stacking, slingshots, nature appreciation, canoeing, kayaking and much more.
7. What is the cost for a week?
All of our fees include both PST and GST. The cost will range from $425 to $565 depending upon the program chosen. (Our CILT program is a separate fee structure). The details can be found on our registration form which is easily downloaded from the 'Contact Us' page.
A week of camp runs from Sunday mid afternoon until the following Saturday morning after breakfast. A complete information package will be sent upon receipt of your child's registration.
There is a 10% discount offered for 3 or more from the same immediate family.
